Summer 2017 Photo Contest Winners

Well, Saddleback’s Summer 2017 Photo Contest wrapped up and y’all did not disappoint! This might of been the hardest Photo Contest we’ve ever had to judge. This year we had more entrants and photos than ever before. Let’s start it off right.

"Mbuti pygmées after shooting arrows into my pack for target practice!" -Matt Hangen. Matt has traveled quite a bit training water well drillers for http://www.water4.org/

Matt Hangen is our Summer 2017 Photo Contest, Best Overall Winner. There’s so much greatness in this photo, it just couldn’t be ignored. Way to go Matt! It was pretty cool to learn about some of what he’s doing around the world with Water4. He wins a $500 Saddleback Leather Gift Certificate. Next up…

“Sunbathing with A Mountain Gorilla” Lawrence Moore snapped this photo of his Classic Briefcase and a young mountain gorilla in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. Looks comfy!

Lawrence was visiting his parents in Uganda, who were serving as missionaries at the time he took this photo. Part of their trip included included donating over 1000 feminine hygiene kits on behalf of Days For Girls. Pretty sweet, Lawrence! He’s the winner of our Most Adventurous category and a $250 Saddleback Leather Gift Certificate.

Most Beautiful: “Cooling off at the Fairy Pools of Glenbrittle” by Gage Harrington.

Gage Herrington captured a breathtaking shot of his Front Pocket Backpack at the Fairy Pools in Glenbrittle, Skye, Scotland. It doesn’t get much better than that! Gage wins our Most Beautiful category and a $250 Saddleback Leather Gift Certificate.

Cutest Kid *and Pet: “Guarding their Loot” by Joshua Wiggins.

If these 2 aren’t a pair! They’ll be best friends in no time. Joshua almost took Best Overall for this awesome photo. It was good enough that we gave him his own category, the Cutest Kid And Pet Category. Way to go, Joshua. He wins a $250 Saddleback Gift Certificate.

Cutest Kid: “Piper in Saddleback," by Justin Falloon. Piper, just a few weeks old, feels and smells full-grain leather for the first time.

Simply adorable… Justin is a minister and part of his inspiration for this photo was from where the Bible says to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Justin sees other applications for this scripture besides teaching a child about God, like how to fish or how to recognize quality materials and craftsmanship. And that, is where Saddleback came in. Thanks, Justin. He’s the winner of our Cutest Kid category and a $250 Saddleback Gift Certificate.

Funniest: "Harvey Before the Red Baron Hunt" by: Bonnie Grower.

Bonnie took this epic shot of Harvey before taking flight at the historic Ford Island in Hawaii. We’re still cracking up over this one. Bonnie wins our Funniest category and a $250 Saddleback Leather Gift Certificate.

Most Boring: "Bag & Bike" by Frank's Fotography.
Most Boring: “Bag & Bike” by Frank’s Fotography.

Being the winner of the Most Boring category might sound unimpressive, but as you can see, Frank’s photograph of his tandem bicycle and Squared Backpack is masterful work. We love this photo. Frank’s our Most Boring category winner and receives a $250 Saddleback Gift Certificate.

We want to thank all of you who participated in our Summer 2017 Photo Contest. You all will be receiving a Limited Saddleback Leather Key Tag.
